Board Certification

Becoming board certified in veterinary radiology is a rigorous process requiring four years of advanced training after the completion of veterinary school. Veterinarians wishing to become board certified in radiology must complete a one year accredited internship, a three year radiology residency program, complete advanced training courses, and meet specific training requirements. This process is supervised by current American College of Veterinary Radiology (ACVR) Diplomates, ensuring consistency in training and adherence to high standards. Once the residency has been completed, the resident must sit for and pass rigorous written and oral examinations. Only then does the veterinarian earn the title of ACVR Diplomate. For further information regarding the board certification process and training requirements to become a veterinary radiologist, see the American College of Veterinary Radiologists website.
